UNCONVENTIONAL HOME FITNESS

In an ideal world it would be wonderful to have the time (and energy and funds...) to get to the gym regularly, but we all know that's not the actual case, which is why it's important to come up with alternatives that can be just as effective, but even more fun! Some of you may have children, some of you may have pets, many of you may have friends...include them, do it together and turn your home into the workout space you never imagined you could have!!

This post is going to explore various household items that you can use for home exercises as well as different ways you can utilize furniture, architectural features, and other unconventional objects for a total body workout.

FUN WITH COUNTERS

If you have a galley style kitchen like myself, then you're going to love some of these next workouts. They incorporate almost all muscle groups from shoulders to calves and can be done at pretty much any time of day like while you're cooking breakfast, or doing laundry, or even when cleaning up. Let's leave those "time" excuses behind!

WHAT'S IN THE PANTRY?

Looking for a bit more of a challenge? Well how about we add some weights by using a few of our every day household items...let's start in the pantry. Take for instance a can of beans or soup, both of which can be used to perform bicep curls, shoulder presses, tricep rows, and so much more! Other unconventional objects you might not of thought to incorporate into a quick home workout could include: books, throw pillows, jars and bottles, towels, plus tons of other items. I think I might do an "Unconventional Home Fitness Series" so we'll see where this goes and the feedback I receive. Any who...here's a few ideas for how you can use household items for different workouts.

STAIRS, STAIRS, STAIRS

Where all my stair owners at?! Good news though if you do not have stairs in your home...you could use couches, coffee or side tables, chairs as well as ottomans as an alternative. Instantly, most people think about booty and leg workouts when it comes to stairs, but there's so much that can be done for the other muscle groups and that's exactly what the video below demonstrates. Don't worry though, there's also some booty work thrown in there too.

Oh and here's a few other exercises you could do using your couch...

GRAB YOUR PETS OR A BUDDY

Surprise, surprise pets and friends/family can do more than provide moral support, they can also be your workout partner! I also used some of my dogs stuff (leashes, food bag, them...) for some creative takes on otherwise typical exercises. Seeing your pet and loved ones having fun will definitely spark that energy and motivate you to keep going and hopefully make this a regular routine.

Working out at home doesn't have to be a chore and I hope that the videos above presented some creative yet useful workout ideas that many will be able to incorporate into their everyday lives!

Happy Monday and let's conquer the week!!!!!

ESCAPE THE ORDINARY!!!
