STAPLE PIECE: WHITE LACE KIMONO

STAPLE PIECE will feature a specific piece from my closet that either I use often, can be used in multiple ways, or was just purchased! These features can range anywhere from shoes to jewelry to a favorite shirt to even something useful for your home (on rare occasions). My very first staple piece is this dainty white lace kimono that just always seems to complete many of my outfits in such a whimsical and feminine way.

Any kimono is a great addition to your closet as they are so easy to just throw on over an otherwise basic outfit, similar to what is shown in the outfit above. There is however something about the lace that I'm drawn to; more than likely because it adds texture and visual interest to the outfit. Although this post will primarily showcase the edgy outfit above, I will also be sharing two other ways I would style this lace kimono.

LACE VIXEN

I first thought about putting this outfit together when I was creating choreography for my Intermediate Hip Hop Class to Ariana Grande & Nicki Minaj's song Side to Side. The song is sensual, feminine, a little naughty, but completely in control and full of confidence (dangerous huh...lol). This is my creative fashion interpretation of that song....

WHIMSICAL & SEXY

This next outfit I wore to a friends birthday party once, except with different shoes. A tight, knit dress accentuates the curves while the kimono creates a sexy, mysterious silhouette. For this particular outfit I kept it simple with the accessories and soft on the dress color in order to draw focus to the kimono details.

COOL & CASUAL

Finally, this last outfit of the post shows more of a casual way to wear the kimono. This would be great for brunch, a picnic, day party, and plenty of other adventures. The bleach-washed, mauve colored, strapless romper is a stand out on-the-go piece. It's great for just throwing on and getting on with your day. With the lace kimono over top and a simple pair of camel colored sandals, you're ready to go anywhere and tackle anything in this outfit. The jewelry is chunky and bold to juxtapose against the basic nature of the romper and ease of the kimono.
